- When is Joe Cain Day?
Joe Cain Day is always the Sunday immediately preceding Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras Day, for those who don't mind the redundancy). Fat Tuesday is always the day before Ash Wednesday. For those of you who aren't Catholic (you just thought they forgot to wash their foreheads, admit it!) Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent.
